Be Mine

I love to do all these creative things for seasonal decorating but...
WHERE DO YOU PUT ALL OF THIS CRAP?
It's dangerous to open any of our closets and the garage is beginning to look like Sanford & Son.
That aside, a couple of Valentine/Winter projects from the kitchen:

These are made from 2 layers of either red ticking or muslin with a layer of batting in between.  I stained them with a mixture of coffee, vanilla, nutmeg, and anything else that smelled good.  THEN - I found these fabulous sheets of canvas that you can use with your printer.  Voila- the little labels sewn to the hearts.

These are just artists' canvas that I covered with scrapbook paper and then used the
Cricut to add the X and the O.

This I made last winter.  It's suppose to have lots more embroidery and embellishments but I'm not one for too much bling.  I like the little guys just the way they are.  The pattern came from this book-

I've spent the last 2 days painting the dining room a deep chocolatey brown.  Pics to follow sometime this week.  The winter is getting long and I see fault with every room in the house.  M doesn't understand that there IS a statute of limitations on paint color.  Boys! Ugh!

Sweat Equity

M calls and says he'll take 1 through 4 to the corner station for a snack!!  Hooray - Happy Dance!  That was the best news I'd had in the 72 hours that we'd been snowed in.  #5 was sleeping - imagine the things I could get done in the 45 minutes they'd be gone.
He had one request before he left {anything for this wonderful man that would grant me 45 minutes of solitude}.  "Could you fill the bucket with snow?"  Why does he need a 5 gallon bucket filled with snow - I thought to myself.  I said sure with slight hesitation but not willing to question.  They left. I quickly got suited up so as to not waste ANY time.  I walked out the door to find...

The payloader was sitting in the drive.  Seems as though the snow from in front of the garage that can't be "gotten" with heavy equipment needed to be scooped into THE BUCKET.  I'm here to tell you that's a darn big bucket and there was a heckofa lot of snow that needed to be shoveled.
M's nature is to solve my problems.  I'm guessing the complaints I've made about the extra 10 pounds I've found around my waist after mainlining chex mix, sugar cookies, cream cheese, and sausage for the last 8 weeks gave him the idea to help me out with my obvious need for exercise.  It worked.  Took me 20 minutes of hard labor (maybe not so terribly hard).  I felt great afterwards and I may have broken a sweat at
 -24 degrees.
Here's to no pressure keeping the gym membership and a little motivation to just get up and move a bit more.  Easier said than done - I know, I know.

K.I.S.S.

Someone introduced me to this principle many years ago:

Keep It Simple Stupid

However, I never seem to follow this school of thought.  {My husband would so agree right now.}  I've spent the last few days packing away Christmas.  Lawd do I have some stuff!  Every closet in this place is PACKED!!  From time to time, M will ask if I think we have enough stuff yet.  Ha ha, funny man.  But after the way I had to close the last closet door, I decided to explore other decorating styles.  God sent me a message to find this blog.  Okay, maybe it was a link on someone else's blog... just the same.

I think you'll find this country farmhouse charming, classic, inspiring, timeless...

Now I'm off to throw everything we own in the Goodwill truck and start from the beginning.

Blessings while you declutter-B
